Recent years have seen a lot of improvement in the functionality and comfort of braces. Occasionally, however, there are still problems. Some of these problems can include broken brackets or wires, loose bands or brackets or wires sticking out.

If you experience any of these problems at any point, call our team at William B. Hentosz, DDS, INC at 626-458-8898. When you call, we can discuss the proper course of action. Sometimes you will need to come in immediately for repairs or adjustments; other times we can instruct you on how to repair it yourself or wait for the next appointment. The difference will primarily depend on whether you are experiencing discomfort and whether the break will cause problems with your treatment plan. If neither of those things are happening, your orthodontist may hold off on treatment until your next appointment.

Calling immediately after the damage has been done is vital, as some problems can interfere with treatment. This is especially likely if the damage was done due to injury. If you were hurt in some way and that’s what caused the damage, it is important that you seek help right away. Dr. William B. Hentosz will let you know what, if any, immediate action needs to be taken. It may be that the problem can wait, but it is better safe than sorry.

No matter what our team needs to do to fix your braces–adjusting, re-attaching, repositioning or replacing wires or brackets–it will take time. Remember to call the office before your appointment to explain the situation, so that we schedule enough time to fix the problem.

If you have damaged your braces and you are in the Alhambra, California area, call William B. Hentosz, DDS, INC to talk with Dr. Hentosz regarding your treatment options, and to schedule an appointment with our team.
